Summer Series

Jesus Encounters | Week 14: Jesus is the Light of the World | John 8:12–32

Intro to FAC & Membership Classes

Date: Sundays, September 20–October 18
Time: 11:00am–12:00pm
Place: in room B106

Are you new or newer to First Alliance Church and want to learn more about us? Or maybe you’ve been attending for a long time and have decided you’d like to become a member? It doesn’t matter which category you fall into—this class is for you!

Intro to FAC is a five-week course on all things FAC. Learn about who we are, what we believe, how to get involved, and the importance of becoming a member of the local church. This is a great opportunity to meet others in the church and build meaningful relationships!

The Intro to FAC course is the first step toward pursuing membership, but it does not obligate you to continue the process.

Sign up using the link below or contact Kim Palmer in the church office at kpalmer@facerie.org or 814-833-9862.

Move UP Sunday

Our FAC Kids are going places—and they’re MOVIN’ ON UP! 🚀

Sunday, September 13, is officially MOVE UP Sunday! All children in FAC Kids, from infants through fifth grade, will be moving up to their next grade-level classroom as we kick off a brand-new ministry year.

Not sure where to go? No worries! Our FAC Kids team greeters will be ready to help families find their new classrooms and get settled in.

We’re so excited for a new year of learning, growing, and seeing what God is going to do in FAC Kids! 🎉

Men's Bible Study: ALL IN—ALL THE TIME

Date: Saturdays, September 5–November 7
Time: 9–10:30am
Place: in room E215 (the Fireside Room)

Surrender. Deny Yourself. Follow Jesus.

We talk about being ALL IN—ALL THE TIME, but what does that really look like in the everyday life of a man following Jesus?

Join FAC Men for our next 8-week study as we dig into Jesus’ call to surrender, deny ourselves, and follow Him. Together, we’ll move beyond simply talking about these principles and learn what it looks like to actually live them out—in our faith, families, relationships, workplaces, and everyday decisions.

ALL IN isn’t just something we say. It’s how we want to live.

Registration is not required; just show up and join us! Contact Wes Palmer at wbpalmer8@gmail.com with any questions.

GriefShare – Grief Support Group

Date: Wednesdays, September 9–December 9
Time: 6–8:30pm
Place: in room B106
Cost: $25 (Includes workbook)

GriefShare is a place for those who are grieving to find support, encouragement, and hope as they navigate the grieving process. We know grief hurts, and you don’t have to walk through this difficult time alone. Together, we’ll walk side by side as you process your loss and take steps toward healing.

There is a fee collected at the first session to provide you with your own GriefShare workbook. This includes returning participants, as this group will be using an updated version of the workbook.

We look forward to meeting you and walking alongside you during this difficult time.

Register online using the link below.

Pure Desire: Compassionate Warrior

Date: Mondays, September 14–February 22
Time: 7–9pm
Place: in room F201
Cost: $60.00 (includes the Compassionate Warrior Workbook and Journal)

The Compassionate Warrior is a follow-up to the 7 Pillars of Freedom series, designed for men who have made significant progress on the road to freedom from sexual addiction. You may have completed the initial work but still find relapse sneaking up on you from time to time. You may be reaching years 4, 5, or 6 of sobriety and find that you are still fighting daily for survival. The Compassionate Warrior will take you deeper and help you find the areas of your life where the enemy has laid emotional explosives. This course will also help you identify the most profound areas of giftedness in your life so that you can be a warrior for others, not just yourself.

Registration is $60 and includes the Compassionate Workbook and Journal. If you have any questions or want to learn more, reach out to Chenny Langness at cnlangness@gmail.com.

FAC Kids Pre-K Playdate

Hope to see you there!

FAC's Benevolence Ministry is designed to help the FAC family, primarily widows, single-parent families, the unemployed, and those with financial emergencies and unexpected expenses. This ministry is entirely funded through the generous giving of our church family.

If you would like to give, whether regularly or when the Lord leads, you can mark your giving envelopes or click on “Benevolence Fund” on the drop-down box through FAC's online giving.

If you are experiencing a need, you may contact Jim Kubaney (814-323-6825) or Pastor Scott Shuffield (sshuffield@facerie.org).

Prayer for International Workers Bob & Cheryl Fugate (Mexico)

Bob and Cheryl are international workers supported by FAC, serving in Guadalajara, Mexico. Pray for the start of our ministry to the married couples in our community that will start on September 4 and continue until the encounter on the weekend of October 16–18. There is a team of five couples in place that will be laying the foundation for this ministry in October, and they have already begun to work and prepare all the things needed to make this ministry a success.

You can learn more about Bob and Cheryl by picking up a copy of our “Prayer Guide for World Missions” at the Missions Table near the entrance of the Worship Center. You can partner with Bob and Cheryl in ministry by giving to the Great Commission Fund.

Do You Have a Prayer Request or Praise?

“Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere” (Ephesians 6:18, NLT).

The staff and elders at FAC would love to pray for you. Send your request or praise to Pastor Scott through the form below.
