Everyone looks for comfort and pleasure. Only a fool would actually want to suffer and live a hard life. But as Christ-followers we must expect suffering in our life (even those who do not follow Christ know this is true). No life will be lived entirely on the mountain top, completely devoid of hardship.
When we offer our worship, do we expect Jesus to return the favor and make us healthy, happy, and prosperous? Or do we worship Him simply because He is the Christ—the Son of the Living God—who alone is worthy of our praise?

This week, we will continue our Jesus Encounters series by looking at Jesus’ encounter with the rich ruler in Luke 18:18–27. Yet every encounter reveals something about who Jesus is, what He came to do, and what it means to follow Him.
It would be easy to go this whole summer and talk about historical stories from the Bible about Jesus without ever considering our own personal encounter with him. We believe that something happens in us when we encounter Jesus. So, we’re simply exploring this question: what might Jesus want for us if we had an authentic and honest encounter with Him this summer?
In the Gospel of John, we begin with one of the clearest and most powerful descriptions of Jesus. In John 1:29–39, John the Baptist points to Jesus and says, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” Before we look at how people encounter Jesus, we must first see who Jesus is. His heart, His mission, and His purpose are revealed from the very beginning: Jesus is the Lamb of God, the Son of God, and the One who comes to save. Simply put, Jesus encounters BEGIN with HIM. So, join us this Sunday and see how meeting Jesus CHANGES everything.
This Sunday, we’ll continue our In Power series by looking at Stephen’s life in Acts and what it means to live a Spirit-filled life fully yielded to Jesus. Together, we’ll see how the Holy Spirit forms surrendered servants, empowers bold witness, and sustains faithfulness even when obedience is costly. We hope to see you with us this Sunday!
On Good Friday, we wrestle with a hard question: What have we traded Jesus for? Looking at Judas in Matthew 26, we’re reminded how easily we choose lesser things over Christ, often without even realizing it. But this night doesn’t end in guilt—it leads us to the cross, where Jesus willingly gave Himself for sinners like us. The One we’ve been unfaithful to remains faithful still. As we come to the table, we’re invited to lay those things down—not as payment, but as surrender—and remember that Jesus has already paid it all.
