facWEEKLY March 6

We hope you've had a good week, FAC Family! Here are just some of the great things happening in the coming weeks.

Check out "What's Happening" for a full list of events taking place this quarter.

Worship This Sunday

Rev. Dr. Jonathan Schaeffer, President of the Christian and Missionary Alliance (USA), will be our guest speaker on Sunday. We are excited to have President Schaeffer and his wife, Mary, with us at FAC. Join us as we hear what God has placed on President Schaeffer’s heart.

Reminder:

Don't forget to 'Spring' forward! Daylight saving time begins on Sunday, March 8. Remember to set your clocks AHEAD one hour Saturday night.

Helping our Community

HOPE Ministry has helped open the door to the nations in our city. Some of the families we serve through HOPE/ESL have recently lost their food benefits. We have the honor of helping those in need, as Jesus called his followers in Matthew 25, that when we help those in need it is as if we are doing it for Him.

If you would like to help, you can pick up a shopping list (it will cost approximately $25–$30) and a shopping bag to put the items in at the table in the lobby. Return the filled shopping bag the next time you come to FAC and our HOPE team will distribute the food bags to those they have identified as having a need.

This food collection will take place between March 1st and March 15th.

Women 2 Women Bible Study

Date: Tuesdays, beginning March 10
Time: 9:30–11:30am
Place: in room B106
Cost: $20 for book

On Tuesday, March 10, we will begin our new Women 2 Women study. Imagine walking the dusty roads of Galilee with Jesus of Nazareth—braving jostling crowds just to touch the edge of His cloak and hear Him say, "Take heart, daughter, your faith has healed you." Those words, once meant to comfort a hurting woman's soul thousands of years ago, were also meant for you.

Join biblical culturalist, Kristi McLelland, on this 7-session study. 'Feast' on the Word of God in a fresh way and gain a deeper understanding of the Bible through a Middle Eastern lens of reading Scripture. Discover how Jesus graciously brought justice and righteousness to women in the first-century world and how He generously lifted them out of their shame and restored their honor.

Sign up by clicking the button below or at the table in the lobby. The cost is $20 for the book.

Erie Otters Family Night

Date: Friday, March 13
Time: 7pm
Place: Erie Insurance Arena
Cost: $15 per person

FAC Men's Ministry is sponsoring a family night at the Erie Otters! Invite the whole family for an action-packed evening.

Tickets cost $15 each and must be paid in advance at the table in the church lobby. Purchased tickets will be available on March 13 at the Erie Insurance Arena "will call" window. Deadline to purchase tickets is March 8.

Intro to FAC and Membership Classes

Date: Sundays, March 15–April 19 (excluding Easter Sunday, April 5)
Time: 11am–12pm
Place: in Room B106

Are you new or newer to First Alliance Church and want to learn more about us? Or maybe you've been attending for months or even years and have decided you'd like to become a member? Perhaps you're somewhere in between? It doesn't matter which category you fall under–this class is for you!

Intro to FAC is a five-week course on all things FAC. Learn about who we are, what we believe, how to get involved, and the importance of becoming a member of the local church. This is also a great opportunity to meet others and build relationships! (Completing the Intro to FAC course is a prerequisite to membership, but pursuing membership upon completion of the course is not mandatory.) There is no cost to attend.

The Spring 2026 session of Intro to FAC will be offered on Sundays, March 15–April 19 (excluding Easter Sunday, April 5) from 11am–12pm in B106. To register, sign up at the table in the lobby or by using the link below. Contact Kim Palmer in the church office at kpalmer@facerie.org or 814-833-9862 with any questions.

Men's Bible Study

Date: Saturdays, beginning March 21
Time: 9am
Place: in the Fireside Room (E215)

We are excited for the next men's Bible Study, Jesus Said—Remembering and Following the Red-Letter Words of Jesus

Jesus is the foundation of the Christian faith, but far too often we ignore his teachings and excuse his commands. After centuries of crafting our own traditions and creating our own customs, it’s time for us to return to the red-letter words of Jesus. It’s a filter to following Jesus, and a reality check to what we’ve believed along the way.

There is no cost to attend and no need to sign up; just show up! Contact Wes Palmer (wbpalmer8@gmail.com) for more information.

Believer's Baptism

Date: Sunday, April 12
Time: 9:30 & 11am
Place: in the Worship Center

If you've made the decision to follow Christ but have never been baptized, what's holding you back? At FAC, we celebrate these things together as a family, and we're planning a baptism service for Sunday, April 12, during both morning services. Baptism classes are a prerequisite for this.

If you're interested, you can register below, online at facerie.org, or contact Pastor Scott at sshuffield@facerie.org.

Benevolence Fund

FAC's Benevolence Ministry is designed to help the FAC family, primarily widows, single-parent families, the unemployed, and those with financial emergencies and unexpected expenses. This ministry is entirely funded through the generous giving of our church family.

If you would like to give, whether regularly or when the Lord leads, you can mark your giving envelopes or click on “Benevolence Fund” on the drop-down box through FAC's online giving.

If you are experiencing a need, you may contact Jim Kubaney (814-323-6825) or Pastor Scott Shuffield (sshuffield@facerie.org).

Prayer for International Workers Chris & Liz in N. Africa

Chris and Liz are international workers supported by FAC. They serve in N. Africa. The fasting month of Ramadan is underway. Pray for opportunities to talk to people (it can be harder to connect with people this month, due to schedule changes and more focus on the home) and for deep conversations that point to the futility of covering over our sin with the dirty rags of self-righteousness. May God open up the hearts of many this month.

You can learn more about Chris and Liz by picking up a copy of our “Prayer Guide for World Missions” at the Missions Table near the entrance of the Worship Center. You can partner with Chris and Liz in ministry by giving to the FAC Missions Fund.

Do You Have a Prayer Request or Praise?

"Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere" (Ephesians 6:18, NLT).
The staff and elders at FAC would love to pray for you. Send your request or praise to Pastor Scott through the form below.
